Canistel is also known as "Fruta de Huevo" and "Huevo Vegetal" or "Jaune d'Oeuf." When ripe, the fruit does have the texture of a hard boiled egg yolk or custard. A most exotic fruit with a strong aroma and delicate taste. It can be eaten fresh, or it makes excellent flan, soufflés, ice creams and other tropical fruit-based exotic desserts.
